Nigerians celebrate billionaire, Adebayo Ogunlesi, the only black man to ever be on Trump’s Economic Advisory Council
Nigerians have taken to social media to appreciate and celebrate business mogul, Adebayo Ogunlesi. He is a lawyer, investment banker and currently the Chairman and Managing Partner of the private equity firm – Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
GIP acquired the London City Airport in 2006 which they sold in 2016. They also acquired Gatwick Airport, Uk’s second largest airport in 2009 under the leadership of Adebayo Ogunlesi earning him the title “the man who bought Gatwick,”
In 2016, he became the first and only African and Nigerian to be appointed into Trump’s economic advisory council which was later dissolved in 2017.
Ogunlesi was the sole reason why there was a vacancy at the World Bank presidency in 2019 after luring President Jim Yong Kim to abruptly resign on Jan 7, 2019 with an “offer he couldn’t refuse.”
