Fire weekend gutted a building at 16, Ladipo Street, Mushin, Lagos just as mammoth crowd has prevented smooth rescue operation by emergency responders. Xmediahubtv gathered that the fire outbreak which started from a shop dealing in mattresses has escalated and spread to other closely adjoining shops.

It could not be ascertained if lives were lost to the incident but he said the crowd at the scene prevent smooth rescue operation. According to him, “There have been severe operational challenges due to mammoth crowd which has failed to comply with authorities and maintain appropriate distance for responders to work freely. “Also, the closely located buildings have proven to be a challenge for curtailing the spread of the fire. The spread has been stopped and the operation is ongoing to fully extinguish the flames and determine the root cause”.

ShopRite to exit Nigerian market after 15 years.

Africa’s biggest grocery retailer, Shoprite, has announced plans to discontinue operations in Nigeria, after 15 years. The South African retailer in a statement released on Monday, revealed it has started a formal process to consider the potential sale of all or a majority stake in its supermarkets in Nigeria. In the statement, Shoprite said the results for the year do not reflect any of their operations in Nigeria as it will be classified as a discontinued operation. “Following approaches from various potential investors, and in line with our re-evaluation of the Group’s operating model in Nigeria, the Board has decided to initiate a formal process to consider the potential sale of all, or a majority stake, in Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Shoprite International Limited, the statement reads. “As such, Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited may be classified as a discontinued operation when Shoprite reports its results for the year. A Nigerian company has finally made the country proud by manufacturing the country's first electric car. An indigenous company called JET Motor Company has manufactured the nation’s first electric vehicle called JET EV. According to Naija Stories on Twitter on Wednesday, July 22, the prototype of the machine was taken on a 300km test drive from Lagos to Benin. Before the test drive, the manufacturer already got a fund backing of $9 million (N3,487,500,000) backing from Canadian-based Africa Development Capital, Techpoint reports.
